Crash and Burn

Unfortunately, my computer has crashed. So I have no way of updating from my house. I've been tutoring, and am now using my aunt's computer to get my internet fix. Hopefully, I will get this worked out promptly! Please pray that my computer will survive the crash, because the Lord knows Momma doesn't have money for a new one.

Thanks!

Sun Glasses

Weekends are my time to work. I don't mind, because I'm one of the few, annoying people that really love and enjoy my job. I love meeting and working with people. I love helping and serving others. The only thing that could be better is if there were a daycare! I'd have to count on both hands the number of babies born to moms in just our area at work this year. Something is in the water, apparently. I've heard a lot of work places adding daycares. I think it's a great idea. I miss my babies, but it's a good break too. Plus, it's a time for me to talk to grown-ups. I'm realizing how much I love and appreciate adult conversations.

Sorry this picture is blurry, but is Ava not a doll? They are both starting to sit up all the time! They do NOT want to lay back at all, which is making me think we may be getting rid of the bouncy seats soon, because it scares me to think about them just tipping forward. Ah!

Emma Kate loves the exer-saucer! They both do, but EK can handle it for a little longer than Ava. Ava has a little bit of a temper. ;)

If you ever get confused with the babies, I try to color coordinate them. EK is purple, and Ava is pink. This is EK while I was getting ready this morning. She was in the BEST mood. I just love her!

Chris and I found the girls sunglasses at Children's Place (2 for $5- heck yes!). This picture is so adorable!
Just before you go off thinking I love EK more than Ava, I'll let you know that Ava took a long nap today. Usually it's the other way around, and I get more pics of Ava. These were the only times I could snap some photos and upload them before work tonight.

I promise to do an update of the cute 4th of July dresses and this past Sunday's sermon at church. It was amazing! Gotta love D-Love (our pastor).

21

21 days until my feet are in the sand.
21 days until the smell of ocean (and possibly oil) are blowing around me.
21 days until waves crash over me.

21 days until this...

Last night when I got off work, I was headed home, and I witnessed a wreck. It was so scary. I was stopping at a yellow light and was in the middle lane, when a car to my right went through the light and smashed into another car pulling out into the intersection. It was so crazy, because I've never seen something like that so close. I pulled over and waited for the police. Within five minutes, the police, ambulances, and paramedics were there taking over. It made me think about how precious life is, and how quickly something can happen. I have the mentality that "it could never happen to me," but doesn't everyone think that? I mean, no one goes out saying, "I'm the type that gets hit by another car." I'd like to think I'm a safe driver... in fact, I've been called a "Maw Maw driver" more than once. Having babies has made me all the more cautious... I'm nervous to take them anywhere, because I see how many people can not drive. It is scary! Do you ever wonder how in the WORLD some people got a driver's license to begin with? I personally think our driving tests are too easy, and everyone should be required to retake a driving test when you renew your license. You can't tell me that once you pass ONE test, you are a good driver for life. No way.

Okay, on a more positive note, driving is one of the best and greatest things you can do. There is nothing like turning to radio up, windows down, and driving just to see where you end up. I love drives when I can just think, sing, pray, and be alone! As much as I love people, I need my alone time. Don't we all?

Best driving music? Elton John. The whole Elizabethtown soundtrack, period.

One of my favorite movies, ever!

Fun Day

Today has been a fun day. First, I went for a morning run at the park. Ah. Nothing like a run to put you in a good mood. For lunch I met my friend, Kristy, for lunch at Moe's. After we took a trip by Ulta, I went to Target to get the girls some "happies." Happies= presents! I can't help it... Girls are so much fun to dress up. It's easy to get carried away, because when I find something I like, I have to double it. I'll post pics later of the adorable 4th of July dresses I bought them.

I went to pick up the ladies early, and I was able to get some stuff done while they took their afternoon nap. I even got to relax (Gasp! What's that!?) and watch Oprah. The Twilight saga actors were on this afternoon, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I can't wait until Eclipse comes out on June 30! When reading the books, I was such an Edward fan, but the movie makes me like Jacob. Blast that adorable Taylor Lautner...

Tonight Chris and I had a fun night feeding, bathing, and playing with the girls. It may sound simple and boring, but I love nights when I just get to enjoy the simple moments with them. I love having them need me and depend me. I love the sweet moments I get to hold them and feed them. I love seeing their faces when they change from the bottle to a new food. I love it when they sneeze and the baby food goes everywhere. I love giving them baths, and the way they smell after they are covered in baby lotion. I love, love, love putting them to bed and watching them sleep. I could stand there for hours. I never thought I could love two little people as much as I love Ava and Emma Kate.

I love the first pictures. Ava has found her bottom lip, and all her pictures are hilarious. She makes the funniest little faces.

It's been a fun day. I'm ending it by snuggling in bed watching Golden Girls. I love that show!

My 1st Mother's Day!

Today was my first ever Mother's Day! I was so excited to spend it with my babies that I couldn't ask for anything more. They were dedicated at church this morning- the BEST gift for a Momma ever! They did so great. They didn't make a peep. We were able to meet Chris's family and the rest of the families participating in parent-child dedication to eat breakfast before the service started. There was a breakfast casserole that was delish! Momma loves her some breakfast! Momma loves her some food, period.

For the dedication, they received little certificates and bitty pink Bibles wrapped in the prettiest white cloth... so precious. We were given a parenting book as well. We had so many family and friends there. I was  excited to see all the people that came out to support us as parents to Ava and Emma Kate. After the dedication, members of the church came to lay hands on us. Then we sang "Jesus Loves Me" as a congregation. It was a sweet time for us, and one that I will always remember.

After service, we headed to Chris's parent's to eat BBQ and spend time with the family. I'm blessed to be adopted in by such a sweet, loving family. I feel like they are mine. I can truthfully say that I love everyone of them. They are always so warm and kind hearted. Aunt Meri bought the babies their first prayer book as a gift for their dedication. I can't wait to read it to them. Tonight was a little hectic and off schedule, but hopefully tomorrow night!

Mimi (Chris's mom) got the girls two BEAUTIFUL pearl bracelets. I'm absolutely in love with them. The babies are already classy and stylish. Their pearls match my pearl necklace perfectly... I love that we will all three match.

We had to take the girls for the rounds to visit my mom, Nina, and Aunt Pam. My mom and aunt got me the exact same card- too funny! It was good to go out and visit everyone. Chris's mom also got me a book and a picture frame and picture of the girls. I'm so blessed and grateful for everything. I love all the special women in my life that have blessed my heart. I'm a better person from knowing them. I love you, Momma and Nina!

Update

A long, overdue update-

* Ava and EK are just now 5 months! I can't believe it. I know people say this all the time, but REALLY, where did the time go? What have I been doing all this time? Not cleaning, that's for sure.
* Ava was 15.8 pounds, and Emma Kate was 15.6 pounds last week at the Dr's office.
* They are wearing 6 month clothes and starting some 9 months. They have OODLES upon OODLES of 6 month clothes. They could never possibly wear every outfit, which makes me super sad. We've been so blessed to have so many people buy for them.
* They are in pushing the size 2 diaper. We still have some boxes of these left, so hopefully they can use them a bit longer since we used up our "take back quota" at Target. People, GIFT RECEIPTS are vital for baby presents. I never realized how important they were until now. Now I'm a Target girl, but apparently you can only return up to $200 without a receipt per year... we are starting to use family members to help us with this since Chris and I have both used up our quotas. Haha! The system and the idea, I understand, yes. However, if someone is registered in your system for a baby or wedding registry, they should STAY in the system for longer than 3 months so that they are able to exchange presents that they registered for. Does that make sense?
**BTW, we still haven't had to buy diapers for the girls. Is that not the wildest thing ever? I'm amazed how God provides for us and gives us such great, loving, and giving friends and family. Praise the Lord for sweet, sweet souls!
* They are LOVING baby food: apples, peaches, bananas, squash, and this week- carrots!
* We're practicing holding bottles and sitting up. We are weeding out the bouncey seat and introducing them to Bumbo seats (made in South Africa- which I thought was cool.)
* They are loving "tummy time" more and more... EK rolled over for the first time Saturday. Come on, Ava!
* Favorite toy: Exer-caucer
* they. drool. all. the. time.
   they. drool. all. the. time.
   they. drool. all. the. time.
   they. drool. all. the. time.
* Ava has been sick today with drainage in her throat, causing her to spit up pretty badly... Usually, all over me. We're trying to be persistent with the humidifier, vapor baths, steam from the shower, and sitting her up after eating.
* First beach trip: 1 month from today (if this oil spill crisis gets under control)! I desparately NEED to see the ocean and feel sand between my toes.

Here are a few Easter pictures that a friend from church took. Kelsey did an amazing job. We are going to miss her this summer while she is at camp.
